History
Acclaim Handling was founded by David Woods in 1982. Based in Purfleet Essex the business has expanded to employ nearly 200 people. A policy of keeping borrowing to a minimum has meant that growth has been organic and that customers can rely on a financially sound well managed business.
Over the years the company has developed a significant resident and field based servicing team coupled with comprehensive repair and refurbishment operations and a bespoke training division.
More recently the company has extended its geographical reach with Regional Centres in Norwich, Spalding and Reading and covers the rest of the UK and Ireland through its service partners.
David Woods is a strong supporter of the Fork Lift Truck industry and started the Acclaim Handling Engineer Apprenticeship scheme in 1995. He is also a Director of the Fork Lift Truck Association and says:
"Acclaim is built on service to its customers and as economic conditions become more difficult, customers will continue to seek first rate suppliers that they can rely on and trust. We monitor costs carefully for our customers who benefit through our KPI reporting and have shown time and time again that our well managed approach delivers whole life time savings. The challenges we face including energy efficiency, conservation and resource depletion will change what has been a conservative industry forever. We will be in the forefront of these changes bringing value for money solutions and innovation to our customers in the years ahead."

"We live and breathe Customer Service, and we strive for excellence in our service delivery to you, our customer. Our business has been built on service. Customers make our pay days possible. A cliché, perhaps, but it is certainly true, and we never forget it"
David Woods
Chief Executive
"Service is the core of our business."
